The origins of this song lie in the volunteers’ project of the same name that took place in the Palestinian refugee camp of Burj al Shemali.
The song owes its existence to Gabriele Giaccio, who wrote the words and the music during his stay in the camp. His is also the voice you hear performing the song along with the Roman group he is part of : Margot Poem Session.
The images captured by the other volunteers during the protests they witnessed in the summer of 2019 underscore the lyrics effectively. On this occasion the trigger for the demonstrations was the proposal for a new labour law - an insult to the Palestinians/ highly prejudicial to the Palestinians, already strongly discriminated against in the Lebanese legislation on employment.
Our congratulations go to the creators of this work and we hope that the song will help to focus our attention on the rights of these people who have been ignored for far too long.
